FLUTTERBYS

Bees

Without them we’re lost. There are other pollinators about but without the constant flight of bees throughout the blossoms of the world very soon we wouldn’t have enough food for everybody. Some bees we think of as common, Honey Bees, nest by the thousands in trees and hives and sometimes in odd places like under the hood of a car or under the siding of a house. Bumble bees nest in groups as well but in smaller numbers, maybe 500 or so. Then there are the solitary bees. They don’t make hives and they raise their kids one at a time. They’re all around and I’m starting to photograph them just to see how many I can find. The photographs included here represent at most 3 species but the collection will change through time.

Oh yeah, one more thing. I got a couple of usuals in a different posture… a Silver Spotted Skipper and a Fiery Skipper.
