Many of the most important revelations in scientific exploration have come about through the collaboration among people of like minds. And citizen science has proven over the years to be almost as valuable as more rigorous laboratory-based research. The more eyes on the world the better. There may be a greater number in this collaboration as time passes but, for now, Jay and I have decided to share our observations here, together. — Charlie Haynes

In addition let it be known that we are carrying on for those who inspired us, taught us and made really good sandwiches for those long, wet, muddy hikes. We’re forever in their debt. Those we’ve known who are still with us and those gone back to the universe; Laura Hardy, Charlie H. Haynes, Dr. Owen Wilson, Dr. Herbert Shadowen, Wendell Berry, and those we never had the privilege to meet; E. O. Wilson, Roger Tory Peterson, Ivan T. Sanderson, and a bookshelf full of other words of wisdom. (Actually I met Roger Tory Peterson when I was 8 years old at Halleck Hall, Male High School in Louisville, Kentucky. He was very nice to an 8 year old.)
